The Glorious Mysteries According to Zoey
Originally posted at The Way of the Rose Facebook group April 7, 2020 Novena Day 48 I had a rough day yesterday. My baby brother was admitted to the hospital with a high fever. He has a history of asthma, apnea, and more than 40 years of smoking/vaping. I also found out that my brother-in-law (who, thankfully, is healthier overall, but is in his 70s) has been feverish and coughing for several days. He was told to assume he has COVID until the test comes back. And my nephew’s wife, who has a stable but inoperable brain tumor, and her two elderly parents are all confirmed cases. All I can…

The Sorrowful Mysteries According to Zoey
To recap for those who missed yesterday's post, I’m outlining the mysteries and what they mean for me. It might be helpful to read yesterday’s post to put this in context. Today our story continues with The Sorrowful Mysteries.

The Joyful Mysteries According to Zoey
In case you didn’t notice, there was a snafu with timing of the guides during this novena. A misreading of the schedule (by several of us, myself included) meant that Perdita had to do some quick scrambling. She filled in on short notice and asked if I would take her slot at the end of this novena and “bring us home.”

How to Destroy Your Health and Your Relationship with Your Parents at the Same Time
You may have seen an article on WikiHow that’s been making the rounds. I don’t want to tell you how to feel, but as a parent I found it deeply disturbing. You see, the article gives step-by-step instructions for “How to Get Vaccinated without Parental Consent.”

Congratulations, New York Democrats! You Sold Us to Merck and F%&^*d Yourselves in the Process
I might as well apologize up front for all the profanity in this blog. You see, I live in New York State, and this past Thursday my state legislators decided they knew best what medical interventions my children—and all other New York children—should receive.

Are You Now or Have You Ever Been an Antivaxxer?
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 704 cases of measles—divided between 22 states—have been confirmed in the United States since the first of the year. Despite the fact that CDC estimates that in 1962, the year before the licensing of the first (ineffective) measles vaccine, there were three to four million cases of measles in the country and no panic (only about ten percent of cases were even reported), this is being billed as an “emergency” requiring immediate action by various state and local government officials all over the country—most notably perhaps in my own state, New York, where Republican Rockland County Executive Ed Day has twice declared a…

Rockland County Exec Punishes Jewish Constituents by Ruining Passover
I live in upstate New York, one county away from Rockland County. My children have not been vaccinated since my about-to-be-20-year-old daughter was a baby for both religious and medical reasons. My world was rocked yesterday when Rockland County Executive Ed Day held a press conference declaring a county-wide State of Emergency because of an ongoing measles outbreak. Starting at midnight last night, anyone under 18 who has not received a measles vaccine will be “barred from public places” for the next 30 days “or until they receive the MMR vaccination.” Parents who don’t comply will face the prospect of a $500 fine or six months in jail.

“Hats Off to Mississippi!” the State with the Sickest Kids
“Hats off to Mississippi!” That sentence, uttered by a panelist, encapsulates the absurdity of Tuesday’s Senate HELP (Health, Education, Labor & Pensions) Committee hearing entitled “Vaccines Save Lives: What Is Driving Preventable Disease Outbreaks?”

The HPV Vaccine on Trial: Guilty as Charged
When Merck’s human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, Gardasil (since replaced by Gardasil 9), was first licensed in 2006, it was hailed as a tremendous achievement of modern medicine: a vaccine to prevent cancer! What could possibly be better?

The End of the Autism Epidemic–Finally?
Parental engagement with mainstream medicine is on the brink of a major collapse, and a new book by J.B. Handley, co-founder of Generation Rescue, activist, and autism dad, may just be the tipping point that pushes a majority of parents over the edge, especially when it comes to vaccines, the linchpin of today’s pediatric practice.
